At least three persons were arrested in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old woman in north west Delhi's New Gupta colony within 24 hours, police said on Monday.
The accused were identified as Bunty, 32, a resident of Blai in Uttar Pradesh, Sunty, 21, resident of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh and Sadik, 20, a resident of Buxar in Bihar, police said.
According to police, Sadik was an employee at the ration shop of the deceased Kusum Gupta.
"We found the statement of Sadik contradictory which led to suspicion of his involvement in the murder," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Singh told reporters.
"During interrogation he disclosed that he had come to Delhi just about a month ago to his relative Bunty, who was already working at the ration shop from the last 12-13 years and was well known to the deceased," the officer said.
He further disclosed that on Sunday, Bunty and his associate Sunty, planned to rob and murder Kusum Gupta as she was living alone these days.
