Seven persons, including four Indian nationals, were on Wednesday arrested from Nepal's Makwanpur district for smuggling 30 kg contraband hashish, police said.
The four Indians and three Nepalis were staying in a hotel at Hetauda and were carrying bags filled with the contraband when security personnel launched a search operation in the district headquarters of Makwanpur, about 90 km south of Kathmandu, Xinhua news agency reported.
The arrested persons were taken into custody for further investigation, Deputy Superintendent of Police Tribhuwan Bista told local media.
Police seized 30 kg of hashish, a vehicle bearing an Indian registration number, six sets of mobile phones and 33,000 Indian rupees from those arrested.
In the past six years, a high number of Indian nationals were detained in drug trade in the Himalayan nation, according to statistics from the Nepal Police.
