At least five people were killed and 15 were missing after a landslide hit the Indonesian island of Java on Thursday, the country's disaster management agency said.
Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority, said 14 people were injured in the landslide. Search and rescue efforts for survivors were underway, Efe news reported.
The landslide shocked farmers who were working in rice fields early in the morning in the district of Brebes, Central Java.
The authorities pointed to heavy rain in the region in recent days as the reason for the incident and warned of other possible landslides in the near future.
