An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale struck off the Caribbean island nation of Barbados at 9.27 a.m. Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The epicentre, with a depth of 17.5 km, was located 187 km northeast of capital Bridgetown, and 203 km east of Le Francois in Martinique, according to the agency.
The China Earthquake Networks Centre placed the magnitude at 6.6 and the depth of the epicentre at 20 km.
