At least 91 people remain missing a day after a landslide hit industrial park in China's Shenzhen city.

A total of 59 males and 32 females remain missing after Sunday's disaster, caused by the collapse of a huge pile of construction waste, Xinhua reported.

Total 78 excavators and 1,200 rescuers have been added to Monday's operation searching for the people missing after the landslide.

There are 2,906 rescuers digging through silt and rubble at the industrial park. The excavators, who arrived at the site on Monday, were the first to be involved in the operation.

The landslide covered 380,000 sq metres in silt 10 metres deep, said Liu Qingsheng, deputy mayor of Shenzhen.

PetroChina, owner of China's major West-to-East natural gas pipeline that exploded as the landslide hit, said it has emptied the 400-metre-long ruptured pipe and was building a temporary replacement.

Two checkpoints have been established to register and verify information of the missing people.

The 900 people evacuated after the landslide were staying in temporary settlements at a nearby sports centre, community workstation and hospital.

A medical station with 16 medics has also been set up near the landslide site, a doctor from Guangming New District Central Hospital said.
