Abu Dhabi, July 20 (IANS/WAM) The 9th edition of the Liwa Date Festival, which promotes and celebrates the symbolic and historic role that the date palm plays in Emirati culture, has commenced in Abu Dhabi's Liwa city.
For the first time, the activities of the new edition of the festival will coincide with the holy month of Ramadan.
Organised by the Festivals and Cultural and Heritage Programmes Committee - Abu Dhabi - under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy prime minister, the cultural and heritage event will last until July 25 this year.
