A challenge to practise sustainable, eco-friendly lifestyle

A challenge on making innovative sustainable urban lifestyle choices for seven days begins here from Wednesday involving environment-friendly solutions on three categories: how you live, move and eat.

The January 17-23 challenge is being organised by the Sweden embassy here in partnership with TERI School of Advanced Studies and Eco-Club initiative of Department of Environment of the Delhi government.

The challenge "encourages both innovation and awareness about daily lifestyle choices that contribute to sustainability", Klas Molin, Ambassador of Sweden to India, said in a statement.

It is part of the Swedish embassy's 11th edition of the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week.

The embassy has invited "committed individuals in Delhi and NCR to practise sustainable urban lifestyles".

The participants will update their daily activities on the 'my report' page on the challenge website, www.sevendayschallenge.com, which can be submitted every day and after the completion of 7 days.

At the end of it, innovative actions reported by the participants would be evaluated for "Most Innovative Action Awards".

Ambassador Molin said his country was at the forefront of the fight against climate change and aimed to become the first totally fossil free welfare society.

Leena Srivastava, Vice Chancellor of TERI School of Advanced Studies, said: "Participation by all stakeholders is essential for transiting to a more sustainable development pathway. Students, with their enhanced sensitivity to sustainability challenges, their comfort with information technology applications and their creative minds, are best placed to define and validate such innovative paths."

The challenge will culminate with the felicitation of winners of the at a reception at the embassy of Sweden later this year.
