Delhi's ruling AAP on Monday accused the city's civic bodies of delaying public work prompting the Assembly's 'Question and Reference Committee' to summon commissioner of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and Director, Local Bodies to appear before it.

The summon for Tuesday was issued on complaint by AAP lawmaker from Greater Kailash Sourabh Bhardwaj accusing SDMC of giving a false reply for delay in MLA fund work.

Earlier in the day, Bhardwaj accused the three municipal corporations of stalling public work.

"All MLAs have discretionary fund worth Rs 4 crore. It can either be given to MCDs to execute public work or can be utilised by executing agencies of Delhi government for which they need a no objection certificate from the MCDs," he told reporters.

Bhardwaj added over the last two years, neither the MCDs have executed works for which MLAs issued funds to them, nor were they willing to give the NOC so that government agencies could execute the work.

"We are talking about public welfare work including lighting of dark spots for women safety," he said.

He added the AAP MLAs will write to Resident Welfare Associations to expose the "misdeeds" of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled MCDs.

AAP lawmaker Madan Lal added that the MCDs were hindering work from MLA funds because "they know AAP MLAs won't tolerate corruption" in the executed work.
