The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said Friday that it had won its first Lok Sabha seat -- Sangrur in Punjab.
AAP candidate and actor-comedian Bhagwant Mann told the media in Sangrur that he had taken an unassailable lead over former union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa (Akali Dal) and outgoing MP Vijay Inder Singla (Congress).
The AAP led on three other Lok Sabha seats in Punjab till noon, putting up its best performance in any state in the country.
Its candidates led in Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Faridkot seats.
Patiala candidate cardiologist Dharam Vira Gandhi was leading over Akali Dal's Deepinder Dhillon and Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur (Congress).
