Pakistan has appointed Abdul Basit, a career diplomat, as its High Commissioner to India.
Basit, who joined the Foreign Service in 1982 and has held various assignments in Pakistan missions abroad and at the headquarters, is currently the ambassador to Germany, said an official statement.
Basit who is in Berlin since May 2012, has previously served at Pakistan's missions in Moscow, New York, Sana'a, Geneva and London.
Basit is expected to take charge of office in early March, as his predecessor Salman Bashir relinquishes charge of office on Feb 28, according to media reports.
