Retired French defender Eric Abidal has suggested a move for Lionel Messi from Barcelona to defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Abidal said that the Argentine star could be ready for a new challenge away from Camp Nou, reports Xinhua.
"As he has won everything at Barcelona, he would perhaps consider a new challenge in order to win new things," said Abidal.
When pressed over the four-time World Player of the Year's next possible destination, the 35-year-old, who played alongside Messi for six years at Barcelona, hinted a transfer to Laurent Blanc's side.
"It's possible. PSG have built a quality squad and have big objectives to reach. It could be an attractive club for Leo," he said.
Messi's future with Barcelona had been thrown into doubt last month when he reportedly fell out with coach Luis Enrique in a row over player power. Abidal, however, said Messi deserved to rule the dressing room.

"His influence on Barca is total. With his goals, he masks tensions, administrative or legal problems. He carries the team on his shoulders and allows it to live peacefully," said Abidal.
"He's part of a group of deciders. But I've never seen him ask for anything, even regarding the team selection," added the Frenchman.
Messi will travel to Manchester City Tuesday night to vie, for his team, a spot in Champions League quarter-finals.
