Indonesian President Joko Widodo Friday appointed Tufiequrahman Ruki as acting chairman of the country's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The appointment came after the temporary resignation of the commission's chairman who has been declared by police as a corruption suspect, Xinhua reported.
Ruki was the first chairman of KPK from 2003-2007 and had successfully led the commission in fighting corruption, winning support from the investors in the country.
The president also named Indrianto Seno Aji, a lecturer of law in leading Indonesian University, and Johan Budi, KPK's deputy chairman for prevention of graft, as acting deputy chairmen of the body.
KPK was established in 2003 to fight high-level corruption cases in the country.
