A military hospital in the US state of Texas was placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after "an active shooter" was reported there, media reported.
The incident happened at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in Fort Bliss, a US Army post headquartered in El Paso in west Texas, some 1,000 km west of Houston, Xinhua reported citing US media.
Fort Bliss spokesperson Gil Telles told the media that an "active shooter" has been confirmed inside the military hospital in El Paso but he has no information on casualties or arrests.
A spokesperson with the military hospital also confirmed that the commander instructed officials to place the medical center on lockdown "because of an active shooter at the VA clinic."
The CBS television station there reported police and SWAT teams have surrounded the hospital. No other details are immediately available.
