Adil, Tanvi enter junior tennis semis

Karnataka's Adil Kalyanpur and Tanvi Bhat Hatangadi stormed into the semi-finals of the boys and girls singles, respectively, in the Karle Infra ATF Under-14 Asian junior ranking tennis tournament here Thursday.

Kalyanpur, ranked 91 on the ATF list and the second seed, clinically demolished an error-prone S.M. Addhtiya of Tamil Nadu 6-3, 6-2 while Hattangadi with an ATF rankng of 19, proved too good for Megha Muthukumar (Tamil Nadu) while winning 6-1, 6-0.

Meanwhile, in an engrossing tie, sixth seed Dhruv Sunish of Maharashtra packed off third ranked Sai Pranav Ponka of Karnataka 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Sunish will take on Kayapur in the semi-finals while top seed Siddanth Jagdish Banthia of Maharashtra takes on fourth seed Megh Patel of Gujarat.

Patel, who hails from Patan, near Ahmedabad, defeated the eighth seed Avin Solomon 6-2, 6-3 while Banthia beat fifth seed Prakrut Patel 7-6 (4), 6-1.

The girls singles quarter-final matches were lop-sided as Shivani Ingle of Maharshtra, Shaikh Humera and Sama Sathivika, both of Andhra Pradesh, joined Hattangadi in the semi-finals.
