Afghan security forces recaptured Kohistanat district in Saripul province on Saturday after launching operations against Taliban militants, an official said.
"Security forces with the support of local people re-took the control of the district, forcing Taliban militants to flee, Xinhua quoted provincial governor Abdul Jabar Haqbeen as saying.
Five militants have been killed and nine injured during the ongoing operation, the official said, adding that three security personnel have sustained injuries.
Taliban militants captured Kohistanat district a couple of days ago.
