Bollywood actor Upen Patel has described bilingual film "Boomerang" as a "perfect project" for him in the southern movie industry.
At the Expandables Awards here on Sunday, Upen spoke about his experience in the southern film industry and his upcoming entertainer "Boomerang", directed by R Kannan.
"It feels really exciting. I feel very lucky to have been a part of Shankar's 'I' as my debut into the south film industry. I had many offers after it but I wanted to experience working with another big director with a great vision. So, I was waiting for the right project, and 'Boomerang' was the perfect film," Upen said.
He describes the film as a "thriller with a great script and a great story".
"The makers were looking for an actor who wasn't a typical villain. They wanted an antagonist who could match up to the hero's persona," said the actor, who began shooting for the movie last month.
Asked if it's the co-actors, the director or the script that makes him want to do a film, the "36 China Town" actor said: "More than actors, it is actually the storytellers that I like to work with. For me, it's about the director's vision and the story.

"I have always done movies that I believe in. If you look at Hindi cinema or my work in south, I have always had a gap of one year before I do another movie. I try my best to look for the right script and role. I want to work in films that I would enjoy shooting and the audience would like to watch."
"Boomerang" features Atharvaa Murali in a prominent role, with Megha Akash, Sathish, RJ Balaji, and Suhasini Maniratnam as co-stars.
