Union Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh said here on Saturday that agriculture is going to be a sunrise sector of 21st century.

The minister was addressing second Agri Leadership Summit, organised by the Haryana government at Surajkund in Faridabad.

Singh said that some people, including farmers and specialists, believed that there was no future of farming and agriculture in India, there was a change in that perception now.

"They now believe that there is a bright future of agriculture and farmers by adopting new methods of farming with advanced technologies."

Haryana despite being a small state -- doing farming over just 90 lakh acre land -- its farmers were treated as number one in many respects.

Addressing a two-day summit, Singh said that Haryana was the top producer of Basmati rice and also yielded record wheat crop and sugarcane.
