National carrier Air India on Thursday ordered an inquiry into a delay in an international flight allegedly because the senior pilot refused to operate it without a particular co-pilot.
The reported incident occurred recently on the airline's AI 263 flight from Chennai to Male via Thiruvananthapuram. The flight was delayed because the senior pilot commanding the flight refused to operate it without a particular co-pilot.
According to the airline, it has taken a strong view on the matter and has ordered an immediate inquiry into it.
"The airline has suffered enough because of such stray and repeated cases of indiscipline," said Ashwani Lohani, chairman and managing director of Air India, in a statement.
"The company will neither condone nor tolerate such acts. I have directed all such cases be brought to my notice immediately and strict action to be taken."
