The AIIMS administration on Monday denied it has issued orders to revoke the suspension of five resident doctors over the death of a staff nurse during delivery at the institution.

The denial came hours after the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) said the hospital administration has accepted their demand to revoke the suspension of the resident doctors.

"The AIIMS administration today had long discussions with both the nurses union as well as the RDA following the unfortunate demise of one of our nursing officers. The AIIMS administration has taken this incident very seriously and had yesterday (Sunday) suspended five resident doctors in this regard," said Amit Gupta, spokesperson AIIMS,

"However, no decision has been taken regarding the suspension of the resident doctors. That situation remains status quo," added Gupta.

Earlier in a statement, the RDA president Vjay Gurjar had said the AIIMS administration had considered their demands and order of suspension has been "revoked with immediate effect".

His statement came after RDA held a meeting with AIIMS administration and Nurses union over the issue.
