The cabin crew of national carrier Air India were detained in Russian recently due to visa issues, parliament was informed Tuesday.

The incident took place in September when three cabin crew of a Delhi-Moscow flight were detained as the validity of their visa had not commenced prior to the plane's landing.

"The visa validity of the three cabin crew who operated the Delhi-Moscow flight of Air India on Sep 13, 2014, started from Sep 14," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma informed the Rajya Sabha.

"Hence, they were allowed to proceed to the hotel on Sep 14, 2014."

Air India resumed operations to Moscow after a gap of 15 years on July 18, 2014.

The national carrier has deployed a Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Delhi-Moscow-Delhi sector.
