The government said on Monday that passenger traffic in the country grew by 11.8 percent at 157.20 million during the period April-January, 2014-15 from 140.66 million passengers ferried during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said the rise in air passenger and air cargo traffic was an assorted result of various factors, including economic environment, commercial factors, increased traffic demand and load handling capacity of airports and airlines.
