Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said his government has zero tolerance for crime and that he will not spare callous officials if crime was not controlled.

Addressing a law and order review and crime control meeting in the state capital on Wednesday, the Chief Minister told all district magistrates and district police chiefs that he will hold them accountable for any incident under their jurisdiction.

Stating further that the Dial-100 project, which will be launched in October, would be a game changer and would ensure timely reach of police on the crime scene, Yadav said, police personnel should conduct themselves as such that they are respected by the people and not feared by them.

Through the Dial-100, in urban areas police will reach in 15 minutes and in 20 minutes maximum in rural areas. Adequate training is underway for police personnel for this project and adequate vehicles have been made available as well, the Chief Minister informed.
