Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday made a surprise inspection and suspended an official in Rae Bareilly, Congress president Sonia Gandhi's constituency.
While visiting Rain village, the chief minister ordered the suspension of the district supplies officer and transferred the basic education official for carelessness and for callousness vis-a-vis government policies.
He also pulled up district officials for not paying enough attention to the development of the countryside.
The village where the inspection was done is part of the ambitious Ram Manohar Lohia rural development scheme of the Samajwadi Party government where villages are developed on a particular model at a fast pace.
The chief minister also interacted with the villagers. He cautioned officials that he won't spare anyone if found wanting in discharing their duties.
This is the first time Akhilesh Yadav conducted such an inspection.
His predecssor Mayawati was known for her penchant for inspections and on the spot suspension of erring officials.
