Toll plazas run by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will soon have kiosks selling drinking water, tea, coffee and packaged food for the convenience of highway users.
The Road Transport Ministry announced on Friday that efforts were being made to have these kiosks in place at all toll plazas by March-end.
"Termed as Highway Nest (Mini), these kiosks are under construction on both carriageways of all 372 NHAI-run toll plazas," the ministry said.
"These kiosks are being built on paved platforms about 200-250 metres from the toll plaza."
It added that toilet facilities for ladies and gents, as well as for physically challenged persons would also be available at these sites.
"Two Highway Nests (Mini) have been inaugurated already -- one at Narayanpura toll plaza on NH-76 on Udaipur-Chittorgarh-Kota route under Jaipur Regional Office and another at Korlapahad toll plaza on Hyderabad-Vijayawada section of NH-65 under Regional Office Hyderabad," a statement issued by the Road Transport and Highways Ministry said.
