Delhi civic bodies heads met Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung Saturday, urging him to request the Delhi High Court to allow plying of e-rickshaws in the city till a policy is framed.

Mayors of three municipal corporations -- Yogendra Chandolia of north, Meenakshi of east and Khushi Ram of south Delhi with leader of the house of south met Jung.

The court July 31 ordered an immediate ban on plying of e-rickshaws in the national capital, saying their unregulated operation is "hazardous to other traffic on the road as well as to citizens".

The court Friday made it clear that it will not allow e-rickshaws on the roads unless the vehicles have registration and insurance and their drivers carry licences.

Jung assured the civic officials that the government will consider their request.
