After their convincing 6-1 win against Snookin Shooters, Alpha Cueists continued their winning streak to record a second straight victory, edging past Black Panthers 4-3 on the third day of the Bengal Snooker League at the Saturday Club here on Thursday.
However, the Panthers hung on in the competition after suffering four defeats in a row including the morning setback to Alpha by beating Green Warriors 4-3.
A perfect start was given by by Rafath Habib and Siddharth Parikh by winning first two frames.
Riding high, the team also pulled out doubles frame on pink ball. They lost the next three frames and once again put themselves in a spot of bother before Rafath Habib and Siddharth Parikh sealed the deal for them to keep their hopes of a knockout berth alive.
In the morning session, the Faisal Khan-led Alpha rode on Pushpender Singh's 63-40 win over Panthers' Habib.
The second frame saw them consolidate their lead with skipper Faisal recording a 78-45 win over Siddharth Parikh.

The tie was sealed by the fourth frame after Faisal and Akram Khan beat Rafath Habib and Abdul Miraz in the doubles by 65-20 followed by Pushpender and Wangchuk Bhutia thrashing Siddharth Parikh and Gerard 58-00.
Meanwhile, RKG Snooker Champs and defending champions Snookin Shooters remained ahead in the race with four wins out of five.
