Lauding the railway budget for its passenger friendly approach, BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday described it as "visionary attempt that will present a robust base for future schemes".
"This is a second year in a row when we have a budget that is not populist and provides a robust base to the railways from where its people-friendly schemes can take off," Shah said.
"Earlier we used to have budgets making announcements for immediate benefits of governments. That approach has affected the health of railway adversely," he added.

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said two to four Deen Dayalu coaches will be added in some long distance trains for unreserved travel to enhance their passenger capacity.
"For a second year in a rowe fares have not been hiked. This will also bring a huge relief to the poor," the BJP president said.
"Introduction of a women sub-quota within the reservation quota is another noble initiative by the railway minister," he concluded.
