German Chancellor Angela Merkel will arrive in Beijing on Sunday to preside over the fourth round of inter-governmental dialogue between China and Germany, officials said on Monday.
This will be Merkel's ninth visit to the country as Chancellor, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei at a press conference.
Merkel, on the visit from June 12 to 14, will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang, said Hong.
Merkel will visit Beijing and Shenyang, which signed a cooperation agreement with German multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate Siemens for the construction of an industrial production site last year.
Dozens of ministers and vice ministers of both countries will attend the fourth Chinese-German dialogue in Beijing, said Hong.
The spokesperson also stressed that both partners have been in close communication for the G20 Summit, which will be held in China in September and in Germany in 2017.
