A two-year-old girl child was allegedly molested Sunday at a playground in the city, police said. The suspect has been arrested.
"We have arrested the accused Suresh, 29, on a complaint lodged by the victim's parents that the incident took place in a playground near their house," a police official told IANS here.
A criminal case was registered against the suspect under sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
"We will seek the suspect's custody for interrogation Monday from a local court and investigate the case to file charge sheet at the earliest," the official said.
Meanwhile, parents took the child to a hospital for check-up and treatment.
The latest heinous crime against a girl child comes days after a six-year-old student was allegedly raped by her Hindi teacher in Cambridge School in the eastern suburb Oct 28-29 and a three-year-old student by an attendant in Orchids School in the northern suburb Oct 21.
The two accused in both cases were arrested and remanded to custody for investigation.
