UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday reappointed Anthony Lake as head of the Unicef.
"Following consultations with the executive board of the UNICEF, the secretary-general was pleased to reappoint Lake as the executive director of Unicef," UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric announced at a daily briefing.
Lake has been the sixth executive director of the UNICEF since May 1, 2010
Lake started his career in 1962 when he joined the US state department as a foreign service officer. He worked for several presidential campaigns and became former President Bill Clinton's national security adviser.
Lake also served as the US president's special envoy. He had also been an international adviser to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
