Myanmar military posts have been attacked by the Arakan Army (AA) in Rakhine state, leaving casualties on both sides, the Defense Services said on Wednesday.
In two incidents on Sunday and Monday, the military conducting security operation near Yaysoe Chaung and Kyiyapin villages in Yathedaung and Kyauktaw towns, were attacked by dozens of these ethnic insurgent members with small and heavy weapons.
While Sunday's clash was carried out by a small group, on Monday a 150-strong Arakan Army mounted the attack that caused casualties on either side, Xinhua quoted the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services as saying.
The attacks have been escalating since the beginning of March.
