The captain of Argentina's national tennis team, Daniel Orsanic, confirmed the names on Friday of the players who will visit Poland to represent the South American country in the first round of the Davis Cup.
The Argentinian captain explained in a news conference that the chosen ones are Leonardo Mayer, number 38 in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world ranking; Guido Pella (71), Carlos Berlocq (115) and Renzo Olivo (160).
The list did not include Federico Delbonis (46) and Schwartzmann (90) which came as a surprise because they were part of the team in 2015 when Argentina went out in the semifinals against Belgium, reports Xinhua.
The matches between Argentina and Poland will be played from March 4 to 6 in the Polish city of Gdansk on a fast indoor surface.
The Argentinian team, Latin America's only team in world tennis' top category, will not include Juan Monaco, who is injured, or Juan Martin del Potro who returned to the court this week after almost a year out due to injuries.
"The team that we have called upon is based a lot on the conditions that we will face in Poland. It will be a balanced set of matches where we will face aggressive and maybe not so consistent players," said Orsanic.
