The army was doing a great job in flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir, former army chief and union minister V.K. Singh said Monday.
"I have always praised the army. They are doing a great job in Jammu and Kashmir. They did a great job in Uttarakhand. But I would not comment any further," Gen. V.K. Singh (retd) said.
Asked if the humanitarian work done by the soldiers will improve their relationship with residents of the Kashmir valley, V.K. Singh refused to make any comment.
V.K. Singh, who is minister for development of north eastern region (DoNER), also said that special steps were being taken for protection of the Majuli island in Assam, a heritage site that has been adversely affected by erosion due to floods.
