As many as 1,000 enthusiasts are expected to explore the main arteries of the city at an odd hour when the second edition of the Midnight Cycling Adventure takes place here this Saturday.
Set to start from Deshapriya Park in the southern part of the city, the meet has been divided into two categories of 10km and 25km. The event will begin at 11 p.m at night and go on till the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The route map is yet to be designed, organisers said.
"The proceeds of this event will be used for constructing schools for underprivileged children. Like last year, we are doing this under the guidance of Kolkata Police and they will approve the route map three days prior to the event," said Vivek Dalmia, chairman of the organisers Calcutta Sterling Round Table (CSRT).
Participants have to be 16 years or older to take part in the event.
Last year, around 500 cyclists took part in the adventure initiative where they experienced the streets of Kolkata under the night sky with no annoying horns and traffic.

"There is no prize money for this event as this is not a competitive race. We will give away goodies to winners," Dalmia added.
