Attending an art exhibition while holidaying in London inspired popular designer duo Pankaj & Nidhi's new spring-summer collection titled Chromatiqu, showcased on the penultimate day of the five-day Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Spring-Summer 2017.

Pankaj & Nidhi's collection was inspired by the paintings, sculptures and craft they saw at the exhibition. The line, which included dresses, high-waisted pants, pencil skirts, off shoulder tops and peplums, was dominated by pastel hues like white, red, green yellow and metallic colours such as silver.

Talking about the collection, Pankaj told reporters: "We wanted to do something different for spring-summer this time and we were in London in an art exhibition so that inspired us to think more like artistes...sculptures and painter related things. So we used chrome and steel elements...We had Alot of fun doing this collection...It is very art and craft inspired."

Since the pair completed 10 years of their journey in the Indian fashion industry, the designers decided to share the excitement with the guests. The ramp was set decorated with white balloons and as soon as the show ended the designers were called with loud cheers on the runway.

Asked about their 10-year-journey in fashion, Nidhi told IANS in a group interaction: "That's why we were in a celebratory mood. We thought Aof a big party and we did a big set up because that was out frame of mind."

"What we enjoyed with this collection was the abstract and spontaneous way of doing things, which we were very inspired by this art exhibit," she added.

AIFW, presented by the Fashion Design Council Of India (FDCI), commenced on Wednesday and will end on Sunday evening when ace fashion designer JJ Valaya will be bringing the curtains down.
