Arvind Mayaram moved again, now to minority affairs

Within days of being moved from the finance ministry to tourism, Arvind Mayaram was Thursday transferred to the minority affairs ministry as secretary.

The appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) has approved cancellation of the order of appointment of Mayaram, a 1978 batch IAS officer, as secretary, tourism ministry, a statement by the ministry of personnel and pensions said here.

Mayaram was replaced by Rajiv Mehrishi as the finance secretary Oct 15, and has not yet taken charge in the tourism ministry.

The ACC also directed that Ratan P. Watal, secretary, department of expenditure in the finance ministry, will hold additional charge as finance secretary for one month, with immediate effect, or until the assumption of charge by Mehrishi or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Watal is a 1978 batch IAS officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre.

Mayaram has now been appointed secretary, ministry of minority affairs, in place of Lalit K. Panwar who has been appointed the new tourism secretary, the statement added.
