Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Indian rowing team's performance as "stupendous" at the 18th Asian Games in Indonesia on Friday.
"Congratulations to the team of Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh for winning the Bronze in the men's Lightweight Doubles Sculls at the @asiangames2018. Their stupendous performance has made the entire country extremely happy," Modi said in a tweet.
Rowers Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhokanal, Om Prakash and Sukhmeet Singh pocketed gold in the men's quadruple sculls category -- only the second gold for India since they began taking part in the rowing events at the Asian Games.
The first was won by Bajrang Lal Takhar in the men's singles sculls at the 2010 Games.
Dushyant won the bronze in the men's lightweight single sculls final, while Bhagwan Singh and Rohit Kumar too finished third in the men's lightweight double sculls final.
Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted: "What a splendid team performance from Rohit Kumar and Bhagwan Singh to bag a bronze in Men's Lightweight Doubles Sculls at #AsianGames2018! I congratulate them for their great performance."
