After establishing its foothold in the domestic market and exporting to 18 countries worldwide, Assam-based Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) has achieved yet another dimension by commencing dispatch of wax in liquid form.
Confirming this development, a spokesman for the NRL on Tuesday said the refinery has recently sent the first consignment of liquid Paraffin Wax to Kharagpur in West Bengal.
"Dispatch of wax in liquid form would result in energy savings associated with solidification of wax at the refinery end and liquefaction of the same at the user's end," she said.
It may be mentioned here that although dispatch of liquid wax in international trade is not very uncommon, such efforts on the part of a domestic inland refiner is unique, thus adding one more feather to the NRL's cap.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the NRL's Wax Plant to the nation in February last year. The 50,000 Metric Tonnes (MT) Wax Plant, commissioned in March 2015 at a cost of Rs 676 crore, is the country's largest wax producing unit with indigenous technology developed by IIP Dehradun, EIL and NRL.
Since commissioning of the wax plant, the NRL has emerged as the largest manufacturer and marketer of wax in the country.
