Taiwanese smartphone maker ASUS on Friday extended its portfolio of Zenfone series, launching ASUS Zenfone Zoom -- an advanced photography-focussed smartphone for Indian customers here.
Designed for a photographer's delight, the smartphone is equipped with 13-megapixel pixelmaster primary camera that has a 3x optical zoom with industry leading camera features.
"Consumers want to capture every precious moment of their lives on their smartphone cameras, and also be able to perform multiple tasks with the same device. With Zenfone Zoom, we are introducing an unbeatable smartphone that complements today's lifestyles and puts professional photography within the reach of everyone," Jerry Shen, ASUS CEO said while introducing the phone.
The ASUS Zenfone Zoom, with ultra-thin 5mm edges to put DSLR-like photography experiences in a pocket, has unprecedented hardware technology for the clearest and sharpest images ever captured through a smartphone the company said, adding its 10-element HOYA lenses kit gives a total of 12x zoom and 5 centimetre macro focus.
The phone has periscopic innovation, smart FSI sensor, 52-megapixel super resolution and pro-style Manual mode for sharp pictures.
The smartphone is equipped with clutter-breaking laser auto-focus of 0.03 seconds that allows the user to take pictures in a blink and 4-stop optical image stabliser (OIS) that enhances image quality by reducing the "shake" while taking photos.
Coupled with a Panasonic Smart FSI image sensor, ZenFone Zoom captures more light and more colour - revealing detail and beauty in both natural and low-light compositions that other smartphone cameras will never see.

The low-light mode increases the light sensitivity to up to 400 percent for low-light no-flash photos.
"Consumers in India are increasingly looking for devices that offer them world-class technology at competitive prices. With smartphone imaging becoming an ever-more important consideration for Indian users, Zenfone Zoom provides powerful features and unmatched specifications that help us keep our promise of empowering luxury for users," Peter Chang, region head - South Asia & country manager for ASUS India said.
The rear camera benefits from dual-LED Real Tone flash to create the most natural illumination for indoor portraits, generating the perfect combination of yellow and white to capture lifelike colours and skin tones.
As far as display is concerned ZenFone Zoom's expansive 5.5-inch 1920x1080 full higi-definition IPS display offers wide 178-degree viewing angles, and a fantastic 403 pixel-per-inch density to render every image in eye-popping detail.
The display includes exclusive ASUS TruVivid technology for true-life colours and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 that offers twice (2X) the drop-damage resistance of its predecessor, a 2.5X increase in retained strength and is 85% less likely to break in daily use.
Chip manufacturing major Intel has provided a powerful 64-bit Quad-core Atom 2.5 Ghz Z3590 processor to give computer-grade performance.
"Intel is proud to be working with Asus to deliver great mobile experience in premium mobile devices at reasonable price points," Anand Ramamoorthy, director consumption sales, South Asia, Intel, said at the event.
It has a 4GB DDR3 RAM and 128GB on-board memory and equipped with a 250Mbps LTE and BoostMaster fast-charging that charges 60 percent battery in 39 minutes.
The smartphone is available for Rs. 37,999 on Flipkart from January 22 and at ASUS Exclusive Stores from February.
