Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said here Monday that his country is looking into increasing aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan, local media reported.
Bishop made the remarks at a meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, Xinhua reported.
Australia is aware of the challenges Jordan is facing due to hosting a large number of Syrian refugees and that it is looking into increasing aid to Syrian refugees in fields of education and health, Bishop said.
According to official data, there are about 600,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan.
Ensour, for his part, reiterated Jordan's call for a political solution to ending the crisis in Syria and for preserving the country's unity and stability.
