An Australian national was arrested after allegedly robbing a bank with a fake gun in Thailand's capital Bangkok, the media reported on Tuesday.
Zachary Adrian Cronin, 23, managed to get away away with 158,000 baht ($4,459) after an alleged 12-second hold-up at a Thanachart Bank branch in Phaya Thai on Monday, The Nation online reported.
But he was captured shortly afterwards.
Cronin, an ice cream shop assistant, claimed that he has been in Thailand for a month and had spent all the 100,000 baht he had, so he planned to rob the bank to buy a ticket to fly back home.
According to police, he had scouted the bank two days before the robbery.
