An auto-rickshaw driver was arrested on Tuesday on charge of robbing a woman passenger and then throwing her out of the vehicle in east Delhi, police said.
Khichdipur resident Babli had hired the auto-rickshaw to travel to Khichdipur from Ashok Nagar area on November 26-27 night but was robbed on the way by the driver and his accomplice, police said.
A passerby called police about the crime, following which the woman was got admitted to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.
Accused Pankaj was arrested from his hideout in Ashok Nagar area and the auto-rickshaw and a sedative substance given to the woman were seized from him.
"Pankaj said he and his accomplice offered the sedative to the woman at a deserted place, following which they threw her out of the auto-rickshaw and escaped with her belongings," a senior police officer told IANS.
