Santa Clara-headquartered Avaya Inc has launched open software-defined networking (SDN) architecture that will help the Indian government deliver on its digital inclusion vision, a top company official said Wednesday.
The business solutions provider company launched Avaya Open SDN globally Wednesday.
"This entire new technology was formulated in the Bangalore research and development (R&D) centre of the company," Priyadarshi Mohapatra, the company's managing director for India and SAARC, told IANS here.
"This new technology will help the Indian government connect with the citizens in real-time helping in laying the foundation for Digital India," he said.
The company, which is present in more than 100 countries, has two very important R&D centres in India - Bangalore and Pune. While the Bangalore data centre is engaged with data technology, the Pune centre is into voice and engagement platforms.
"The Avaya SDN Fx architecture is the first to deliver the 'smart foundation' required to connect anything, anywhere. The new architecture shaves off weeks in provisioning time by allowing devices and users at the network edge to be added easily to the network," the company said in a statement.
