West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree has been appointed assistant coach of PowerGen Penal Sports club, a dominant force in Trinidad and Tobago cricket over the years.

The 33-year-old Badree has taken up the post of player-cum-coach and will be assistant to head coach Baldath Bodoe for the 2015 season, reports CMC.

PowerGen failed to win any silverware last year and Badree is hoping he can help turn the club's fortunes around this year.

"This is where I started and this is the only team I have played with in Trinidad and Tobago cricket. So, I am looking to give back to the club and this is one way I can do that," said Badree.

The T&T leg-spinner has played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royal and is one of the retained players in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) franchise the Red Steel.

"Spin has been our strength and we are looking to capitalise on that and continue churning out quality spinners through our development programme," said Badree.
