The Bangladesh government has planned a national budget of 3.40 trillion taka ($43 billion) for the next fiscal year (2016-17), the country's finance minister said here on Thursday.

"We're planning a 3.40 billion taka national budget for the 2016-17 fiscal (July 2016-June 2017)," Finance Minister A.M.A. Muhith said.

He, however, did not elaborate on the new fiscal year budget which is to be unveiled in parliament in the first week of June, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Bangladesh parliament in June 2015 passed a national budget of three trillion taka for the current 2015-16 fiscal (July 2015-June 2016).
