In a bid to provide some relief to Group C and Group D employees from cash crunch arising out of demonetisation of high-value currency notes, the West Bengal government on Monday allowed advance payments of salary or remuneration or wages in cash.
The group C and D employees of state government and employees working in equivalent posts in state government entities like educational institutes, panchayat, municipalities, municipal corporations, PSUs, corporations, autonomous bodies and boards may be allowed to draw part salary in cash as advance, a government release said.
Some employees are allowed to draw Rs 5,000 from the salary of December in cash payout while some are allowed Rs 2,000, the release said.
"Employee/personnel who wish to receive the cash payout of the part salary/remuneration-wages in cash as advance may give their opinion to their office by November 25. In case no option is received by the said date, it will be presumed that the employees/personnel are not willing for cash payout," the statement said.
The government ordered respective offices to arrange for cash disbursement by November 30, it added.
