West Bengal Transport and Sports Minister Madan Mitra, who has been summoned by the CBI in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam, Saturday admitted he was "tense" at facing the agency's grilling.
The Central Bureau of Investigation, probing the multi-crore scam, hasn't been able to quiz Mitra after he reported sick and was admitted to a state-run hospital here Nov 20 after a brief stay in a nursing home.
He was discharged from the hospital Nov 26 after a medical board found him to be healthy.
"I can't deny that I am suffering from tension in facing questioning by the CBI. That's because I needed to prepare myself to reply to their questions which will help them get to the bottom of the matter," the minister in a television interview.
However, Mitra said he was now fit and shall reach the CBI office whenever they call him.
The minister claimed he was not at all involved in the scandal and had not taken "a single paisa" from the Saradha Group.
