Accusing West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi of forwarding complaints received from BJP leaders to the state government, Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee on Wednesday termed him "BJP's parrot".

"We feel he is BJP's parrot. We have received many letters of complaint from Bharatiya Janata Party (leaders) through him. He takes complaint from BJP leaders, drafts them himself and sends them to us. This is not the job of a Governor," Mukherjee told the media here.

Taking a swipe at the Governor for saying he also has certain administrative powers like the Chief Minister, Mukherjee said: "He has claimed his powers are at par with the Chief Minister. I want to tell him that chalk and cheese are not the same."

The Trinamool leader also claimed that Tripathi is going all out to back the BJP as he is unsure of retaining his post once the new President is sworn in this month.

"He is scared because the Presidential election is round the corner. It is not certain that he will retain his post. That is why he is constantly talking in BJP's favour so that he gets appointed as Governor again," the Minister said.

"In spite of saying all this, he will have to parrot in his annual address to the assembly whatever we (Council of Ministers) write about the Chief Minister. The opposition will then accuse him of talking like a parrot of the Trinamool Congress," Mukherjee said.

"People of West Bengal know how many faces a Governor has and how many masks he has put on," the TMC leader added.
