Vinay Kulkarni from Mumbai on Friday became the 100 millionth passenger to land at the Kempegowda international airport at Devanahalli, about 40 km from the city centre.
"We have clocked 100 million (10 crore) passengers within eight years of launch of commercial operations at the greenfield airport in May 2008," Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) managing director G.V. Sanjay Reddy said in a statement here.
The airport is the third busiest airport in the southern region.
As many as 18.1 million passengers flew from the airport in 2015 while an average of 52,000 passengers transit through Kempegowda airport every day, the statement said.
The airport is used by 44 airlines to connect 67 destinations in India and abroad.
