Eyeing robust construction and mining growth in India, Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV) launched Pro 8031XM tipper and Pro 6025T box body vehicles at Excon 2015 on Thursday.

"The worst recession for the commercial vehicle industry is behind us now. As we move forward, a lot more growth is expected to come from demand from two sectors - mining and construction," said VECV CEO Vinod Aggarwal in a statement.

Designed with mining applications and operating conditions in the mines in mind, Eicher Pro 8031XM is suitable for bothe flat roads or gradients, the statement said.

Built in collaboration with Swedish Volvo, it is equipped with a fuel efficient driveline, robust chassis, advanced telematics and a world class cabin.

The 330 HP capacity VEDX8 7.7 litre engine powered tipper showcased at the five-day construction equipment industry trade fair met all the 20 safety recommendations stipulated by the director general of mines safety, the statement said.

Eicher Pro 6025T is designed for construction applications like road construction, infrastructure projects, port transportation and others. It is powered by a 220 HP VEDX8 7.7 litre engine.

"Furthermore, with a number of infrastructure projects under implementation and the government's actions to remove hurdles; construction segment also is likely to show good growth in the next 2-3 years... we are now in a relatively advantageous position to take benefit of this expected revival in mining and construction segment," added Aggarwal.

VECV is offering onsite support services for mining customers with a plan to extend it to its construction customers as well.

Operating since July 2008, VECV is a 50:50 joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited.
